Updates and ITTD Highlights!

Howdy fellow gamers!

I know I’ve been off the blog for a bit now, and I feel downright awful about it because it means I actually haven’t been playing games as much lately. But for good (I think) reason – they’ve been packed away in preparation for a move to a house! Yes, my games now have a much bigger home than the dinky apartment they once lived in. But, because of that impending (and now pretty much completed) move, I have not been playing as many games as I would have liked, and I haven’t been able to touch the blog at all.

Games I Just Can’t Get Into

As we all know, there’s a lot of games out there, and a lot of titles are known to even non-hobby gamers because they’re just that popular. While I like plenty of games that are widely adored, I still have a fair few I can’t get into for one reason or the next – many which other gamers tried to use to get me into the hobby. (I know, weird, right?)

Santorini: Simple Obsession

I’ll start by being honest – I am usually the first to turn my nose up at abstract games. They are usually, in my opinion, lacking in theme, which is a big deal for me, or exterior player interaction (because you’re so caught up in the strategy of it that you forget there is another person at the table), but maybe that one’s just me.

Santorini, however, throws that out the window and has given me an abstract game that’s everything I’ve ever wanted, and more. It is my current game obsession, and the more I play it ,the more I want to play it. Oh, you want to hear more? Allow me to explain.

Another Convention Down! G2S!

Howdy faithful readers! This weekend my fiance and I attended Granite Game Summit (G2S) in Nashua, NH! Before this, I have been to one small board game convention (Grand Con) and and one large convention (PAX Unplugged)! Both were totally awesome.

I was definitely excited about this one, but knew it would be even smaller than Grand Con – little to no vendors, small library, mostly BYO games, small venue – but I was still anxious to get there and try it out.

A Board Gaming Couple’s Engagement Story

Soooo, in case the title did not ruin it – I recently got engaged!  Please, stay seated, no need for clapping, oh, oh, aww thank you very much!

Normally I don’t tell my own personal stories, but I wanted to put it on here because it is thematically appropriate, being that my fiance (what a fancy word!) used a board game present to disguise the proposal. So, if you’re interested, please read forward! And if not, see ya next time!
