Have you heard the news? The high necromancer is dead and the gems and treasures of his dungeon are up for grabs! A good wizard doesn’t do the dirty work themselves, of course, so you’ll need to employ ten of the best beasts and creatures to dive into the dungeon for you. Use them wisely! Because it looks like other greedy wizards are coming for the treasures too…

Hand Management – Players have a deck of 10 cards which they’ll use in dungeons to try and collect artifacts and gems. How they play cards will determine how many cards they draw each turn, so they’ll have to play and plan carefully!

Set Collection – Players are trying to collect different colored gems in order to score higher at the end of the game.

Take That – Players will be trying to stun/eliminate each other’s creatures to prevent them from collecting gems when dungeons are resolved.

  • 2 to 4 Players – Seems to scale fine, but I think it’s a little better with more players because there are more dungeons/options
  • Ages 12 & Up – Light strategy, but overall pretty straightforward rules and gameplay
  • Fans of card games and set collection who don’t mind some take-that

  • Aesthetics – Nice art; good graphic design
  • Components – Nice gems and boards; cards are average quality
  • Rules are well written and clear
  • Good variety with the different cards for decks (only use 10 per game) and the various artifacts and enchantments
  • Quick set up
  • Smooth game play
  • I don’t think the symbology on the artifacts is great, but the rule book does have easy reference
  • I thought some of the dungeon resolution was a bit bland (usually with less players). Depending on how players play their cards, many cards won’t trigger because it is easy to avoid (i.e. not playing imps in a dungeon where a card will eliminate imps)
  • I didn’t think the theme was very strong

Overall, I thought the game was fine. It plays pretty quickly and has quick and smooth turns. I also liked all the unique gems, they look great and add to the theme!

I just didn’t find it all that interesting after a few rounds, and thought it could overstay it’s welcome a bit too. If you like fairly light card games with decent variability, maybe this will be more up your alley!
