Are your floral displays the most charming in town? Let’s find out! It’s time for you and your rival flower shop owner to compete for the best flowers for those displays. You’ll have to be quick if you’re going to outbid your competition – but make sure you don’t overpay for those flowers either, or you’ll run out of funds! Let’s get to it.
What Is It?
Dutch Auction – The game uses a web application which tracks funds for both players and each round counts down a 15 second timer where the price of flower tiles gets cheaper (starting from 5 money) as time ticks down. Players have to be quick to tap-in at the point they are willing to pay in order to grab the flower tiles they want, without overpaying
Tile-Laying / Pattern Building – Players will add tiles they acquire to their storefront boards to make groups of the various flowers. They will score for their largest group of each flower at the end of the game
Who Is It For?
- 2 Players – Strictly a head-to-head game
- Ages 10 & Up – Small/simple ruleset; the auction type might be tricky for younger players
- Fans of bidding/auctions, tile placement, and pattern building
- Players who don’t mind an app element
PROS
- Aesthetics – Visually appealing – cute flowers, cats, and boards
- Components – Nice chunky tiles, app is responsive
- Rules are short and sweet, and well-written
- Rounds play quickly and smoothly
- I like that even though you can’t move tiles, you can slide your board around to better fit tiles – makes the game feel a little less restrictive
- The auction gives a good level of tension as you try to beat your opponent for tiles you want without spending too much money

CONS
- I really wish the web app had some sound like music or a ticking down sound. Since players are focused on when to bid, it can make the game feel a little awkwardly quiet at times
- Earning points for difference in funds seemed like an odd rule as it seemed easy to keep funds pretty close, but that might come down more to play style than anything
Final Thoughts
I usually skip on auction games that play 2+ because at 2 they tend to fall flat. This is designed for 2 players, and works really well, which is a big plus!
Overall, I found it to be cute, a little puzzley, and the balancing of funds versus getting tiles worked well. I also thought scores usually ended up being pretty close, which was nice since it meant competition was tight.
Like I said, I do wish the app had a little bit of sound to add some ambiance, but otherwise, I think it works. If you like auctions, and 2 player games, it’s a great choice.
