Are you ready to guide yourself toward a calmer, more mindful day to day life? Finding Calm can help! Start each day with a day that will give you your intention for the day so that you have something solid to keep in mind and reflect on. Ready to check it out?
What Is It?
Solo or Cooperative – Player play alone or as a single team
3×3 Grid / Puzzle Game – The player(s) will choose each turn before drawing a card if they want to place it in the grid, or move a card already in the grid (discarding the next card from the deck instead). Placing sun symbols facing other cards will cause those cards to flip, and ultimately, the goal is to have only a single card face-up. The game ends if the 9 spaces of the grid are filled, or if the deck is emptied. Then, the player(s) can look up their day’s intention in the rulebook based on what card is face-up and where. (If there are multiple cards, players will just choose one as their intention).
Expanding – There are 3 envelopes in the box which players can open as they achieve certain scores in their plays. This will add more cards to the deck, and special abilities on those cards which can help give players more room to strategize at times.
Who Is It For?
- 1 or More Players – Personally, I like it best solo because it’s very relaxing, and you can really focus on it. But I think it would also be good for some pairs to play together
- Ages 12 & Up – Gameplay is pretty simple, but I wouldn’t recommend it to too young of players as they may not get much out of the meaning of the game
- Fans of abstract puzzle games
- Fans of psychology
PROS
- Aesthetics – Absolutely gorgeous. Great art and the gold foiling is awesome
- Rules – Well-written and small ruleset, so you can get right into the game
- Plays quickly and smoothly
- I really like that you add more cards to the deck as you play, which will extend the game, and add variety
- Cool that they partnered with a licensed psychologist to build the intentions based on the cards.
- Small and pretty portable (don’t need a huge play area)
- Very calming/relaxing game

CONS
- The rulebook was bound a little too tight, so as I was opening it repeatedly, some of the pages started to come loose
- The added cards aren’t labelled to reset the envelopes if you want to restart the game, or try it with a new player.
Final Thoughts
I thought this game was neat! It definitely gives that calming vibe it’s going for, which I love, and I’m absolutely obsessed with the look.
I have played it a bunch, so I’ve gotten a few different daily intentions, and I really like reading through those and having something to reflect on for the day.
If you like this sort of vibe, check it out!
