When you combine breakfast and lunch, what do you get? Brunch of course! Can you mesh together letters from two random words … based only on some images? And can you get your team to guess which images you used to form that brand new word? Put your skills to the test as you create your portmanteaus!
What Is It?
Cooperative – Players work together as a team
Limited Communication – The “speaker” (word creator) each round can not spell their portmanteau or give any hints to which images were used
Deductive Word Game – Players will be creating portmanteaus (blended words) based on vague images, and others will have to guess which images were used to create the new words
Who Is It For?
- 2 to 6 Players – Scales well at any count. Regardless of size, you really need to know how your teammates think!
- Ages 12 & Up – Small ruleset, good for a wide age range / family game night
- Fans of cooperative word games
- Players who are creative and can think on their feet
PROS
- Small / Portable – Don’t need a huge play area either
- Aesthetics – Art is simple and cute
- Rules are well-written
- Unique theme / play
- Lots of image cards, plus you could describe the images as multiple words, so there’s plenty of replay value

CONS
- Since the images are vague, there can be a lot of time spent debating what to call each image in order to solve the latest portmanteau. This led to 2 issues for me and my groups
- Sometimes the game could go on a bit too long. More likely with more players if they are having those lively debates.
- I found it hard to win, which could be frustrating at times
Final Thoughts
I liked the concept of the game a lot, and I definitely did have fun playing it. I liked that the game, by design, selects which 2 image cards you have to use so that it alleviates feeling overwhelmed by choice. It was fun to come up with portmanteaus and then watch/listen to your team debate what cards you used to come up with that.
I was just a little disappointed by how difficult it was to win because of those images. (Hey, maybe my teams and I were just bad at it, haha!). I wish it had a scale to say how well you did based on how many portmanteaus you did successfully, or something like that, so it didn’t feel as bad if you didn’t get them all. (That 3 letter length is the killer for me every time!). It is definitely a neat, unique little word game though, and worth checking out if you like cooperative party games!
