War means never really trusting anyone … Will you be able to play your cards wisely enough to protect yourself and eliminate your rivals? Or will you be the first one terminated? Only time will tell…

What Is It?

Card Game / Hand Management – Players will have various action/reaction/persistent cards, and they can play one each turn. Many of these will let them draw cards, steal cards, trade hands, and more

Take That / Player Elimination The goal of the game is to be the last player standing, so players will use their cards to mess with their opponents, and ultimately use “terminate” cards to eliminate others

  • 3 to 6 Players – The deck size changes based on player count, so it scales well. Not too long, even at 6, which works well for player elimination
  • Ages 12 & Up – Simple ruleset, very approachable gameplay wise; probably a boring theme for a younger audience though
  • Fans of light card games with chaos and take-that
    • Players who don’t mind player elimination

PROS

  • Rules are well written
    • Quick to learn
  • Handy reference cards + reference on the setup sheet
  • Turns are snappy
  • Easy setup/cleanup
  • Good variability with the cards (66 cards, use 18-36 depending on player count)
  • Aesthetics – No art / basic look
  • Theme doesn’t add to the game

Final Thoughts

The game is a bit chaotic and wild, but it can be a lot of fun with the right group. It can be fun to watch how people target the player(s) with the terminated cards, especially when that first one is drawn. And, depending on the cards in your deck, cards can end up bouncing around between players a bunch, which is just fun to watch. Player elimination is never my favorite, but luckily this game is pretty short, so you won’t be out for long if you are terminated. If you like simple take-that card games, this is pretty good!
