Hey there, neighbor! Enjoying Hinckville? Great! Have you checked out the Hincks Gazette yet? Well, you simply must! Inside our town’s little newspaper are hidden puzzles, and lots of fun! Well, go on, your first issue is waiting!
What Is It?
A cooperative escape-room style game which comes in the form of a one-page, double-sided newspaper. It has various puzzles that are all connected that players will work their way through to come to a final answer, which they will input on the website in order to add their name to the leaderboard. It takes roughly one hour, but that may vary depending on your puzzling skills.
Who Is It For?
- 1 to 2 Players – If you only have 1 copy of the paper, it’s best with only 1 or 2, otherwise it’s hard to share.
- Ages 12 & Up – Pretty light and approachable, no big ruleset
- Fans of puzzles/escape-room games that are relatively quick
PROS
- Easy to jump right into
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Fun theme for a subscription – new issue each month
- Unique puzzles that mesh together well
- Hints available online if you need them
- Collectible stamp (sticker) with each issue!

CONS
- One time play unless you don’t write on the newspaper
- One puzzle did feel a little repetitive
Final Thoughts
I’m a big fan of Bluefish Games at this point, and this one is another hit for me! It’s short and sweet, but still packs a puzzley punch, and I think the short form works well for the subscription model. I only played through Volume 1, Issue 1, but I would definitely be interested in more! I highly recommend this to fans of puzzle games who are looking for an ongoing series.
