Time is testing you! Can you follow the rules of time for each clock you’re faced with? Or will the tests get the better of your team?
What Is It?
🎯The Goal of the game is to play 12 cards around a clock following all of that clock’s rules/restrictions. Each clock is its’ own “test”/game
⚙️Cooperative – Players work together through each test
⚙️Mission/Scenario – There are 40 different games players can work through
⚙️Communication Limits – Each round starts with a discussion phase where players strategize before viewing their cards for the round. During the placement phase players can’t communicate about their card values or where they want to place, so they have to base their choices off only prior discussion
Who Is It For?
👥2 to 4 Players – Count mostly changes how many cards players have for the round, but at 2 there is a weird variant which I do not think works well (you don’t view all your cards at once) so I think 3 or 4 is better
👥Ages 10 & Up – Rules aren’t too difficult
👥Fans of games like The Game or The Mind – playing cards basically off of vibes
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Very pretty look
🟢Lots of variety with 40 different clocks to play
🟢Rules are well written and clear
🟢The mechanism of being able to play a few cards face up is helpful
🟢Rounds are quick
CONS
🔴Luck of the shuffle
🔴Since you only use 12 of the 24 cards you really have no idea what you’re working with during the discussion, so it almost feels like it doesn’t need to exist
🔴The clocks change slightly, but the game feels very same-y play to play, so it does get repetitive
Final Thoughts
I find games like this more frustrating than fun, personally. I don’t understand the point of discussing a strategy when you don’t know what you’re even going to be able to do. It can be really difficult to adhere to rules if one person has a lot of low or a lot of high numbers, and you have no way of telling your team anything.
I also thought the 2 player game was even more frustrating because you have to play 2 cards and then pick up your other 2 cards, which could then have you realize that you already misplayed your first few cards.
This one just definitely isn’t for me, but if you like similar games, then you might like this one. And hey, at least it’s pretty!
