Whether you’re looking to be recruited as a Guardian of the Globe superhero, or you want to join Rick Grimes and his gang in their quest for survival, you’ll need to push your luck a little to figure out if you’re good enough! Ready to give it your best shot? Let’s check it out.

Dice Rolling – Each time a player flips a card from the deck, they’ll need to roll dice to get a high enough value to defeat it. Some cards are event cards which will change what/how they roll for that card as well

Push Your Luck – Players can only use each die once per turn and they have to decide after each card if they will stop, and keep any points they’ve earned, or push their luck and flip another card, which they will have to complete in order to score their points. If they run out of wound/energy cubes (life points) or run out of dice before completing a card, they will bust and lose all the points they had that turn

  • 2 to 4 Players – Works fine at any count, but I do like it a bit more with less players because of downtime between turns
  • Ages 8 & Up / Family or Light-Weight Game Fans – Simple rules and smooth gameplay
  • Fans of dice rolling, push your luck, and either of these themes

  • Quick set-up/clean-up and teach
  • Clean aesthetics, nice art
  • Quick/smooth turns
  • Rules are clear/well-written
  • Good quality components
  • Fun tension turn to turn as you keep an eye on how many points everyone has
  • The themes don’t really come through the gameplay at all
  • Can sometimes be a lot of downtime in between turns
  • Game doesn’t really vary play to play

I felt the luck in this game was twofold since not every card will have an opportunity to score so you’re at the mercy of the deck and the dice roll randomness. That said, it’s a super light, quick push your luck game, so I’m okay with it for an occasional play.

I like that there’s no hidden strategy and it’s just about chucking some dice! The theme is basically tacked on, but I don’t mind that because it helps get some players into it if they’ll familiar with the comics/shows, and the game is super approachable, so it’s easy to get anyone playing!
