Okay, no, that’s not the actual name of any game (though that would be kinda coo, huh?). The title of the game I want to talk about today is, Escape: The Curse of the Temple, and it is awesome.
I call it the thrill of a lifetime because, well, it is. It’s a real-time game that only takes 10 minutes and with the only actions being to roll dice as fast as f***ing possible and move your piece through the depths of the temple searching for an escape, it gets pretty intense. (I got a little adrenaline boost just thinking about it). It’s one of my favorite games, and it has helped me get a lot of my friends into board games as well. It’s fairly light, easy to teach and play, and generally gets people excited about playing games. Overall, I really recommend it.
Hey Gamers! So, as I mentioned in my last post, this past weekend was GenCant 2017, and I have to say, I had a great time being the unofficial host of my at-home mini convention. I made some sweet personalized badges for my friends, played more games than usual in a weekend, tweeted photos like crazy (& followed a ton of other people’s GenCant adventures via Twitter which was fun), entered a bunch of contests, and even won an AEG Big Game Night Box (well, my boyfriend won it, but I entered him & we live together, so I get a little credit, okay?)
Overall there’s not much to say other than it was a really fun experience, and I thought it was really awesome of the creators to put on. It is something that I will definitely be participating in for years to come!
Check out some of my awesome gaming photos from this weekend below and stay tuned for more posts in the future. I hope to post more reviews or general board game talk soon! 🙂
Hey Gamers! Sorry I haven’t been up to snuff and haven’t posted about another game as of late, but I’ve got some news today! (*and the crowd goes wild!*)
I recently stumbled upon something in the Twitter-verse, thanks to some cool peeps I follow from the Flip the Table Podcast, (sorry if you missed out on this gem, but you should listen to all their episodes now, cause they rock) called GenCan’t 2017. Now, if you’re unfamiliar, like I was, this is basically an “unconventional convention,” as they call it in which if you’re not going to GenCon (the biggest board game con ever) then you can just play games at home all weekend with friends and fam and take pics and tweet and so on, AND potentially even win prizes from them!
Honestly, I think this is hella cool because: 1. Cons are expensive and this is not, 2. I was disappointed in not being able to attend GenCon and now am less disappointed, and 3. It’s a great way to bring the gaming community together via the good ‘ol interwebs, and a sense of community is always fun. They have downloadable badges, some virtual gaming to participate in, and just a general air of fun and friendly existence. (Yupp, that’s the phrasing I’m sticking with.)
I’m going to post links to their pages below and hope to see tons of people tweeting and posting photos of their gaming adventures all weekend. I also plan to take some photos and tweet, and then might compile my GenCan’t experience photos here too!
Unfortunately, this will be another post void of any photos aside from the shot of some box covers. Don’t get too mad, I’m doing it for you! Honest! Photos of components, game play, or anything else would only serve as spoilers, and trust me – you don’t want that!
Today I want to talk about Escape Room themed games. Specifically, I will be discussing Exit: The Game because I’ve played all those that currently exist (and they’re friggin’ awesome). These are games that my friends and I are huge fans of for a lot of reasons, so this will be done as a list of general things I want to say about them.
I hope that I can cleverly persuade you to love them as well! (And let’s be honest, I do have a way with words.) So without further ado, heeeereee we go!
That title should be sung to a certain tune, but I’ll let you figure that out.
Now, unfortunately I don’t have any pictures for you all with this one, nor do I have a plethora of knowledge since I have only played one legacy game. (Gosh, I can hear your booing and hissing… cool your jets and listen). Now that all the impatient kids are gone, let’s dive in. Although I don’t have a lot of experience with this type of game, I enjoyed the one that I played SO much, that I felt it deserved to be raved about. So, without further ado, let’s talk about Pandemic Legacy.
Let me start by saying this: I hate base Pandemic. I see I’ve lost a few more of you…and that’s okay. Base Pandemic offers nothing more to me than a few colorful cubes and an excuse for alpha-players to quarterback for half an hour. It’s boring, redundant, and really not worth my time. Pandemic Legacy takes the general concept of the base game and transforms it into something that can be genuinely enjoyed by everyone involved, and really cuts down on quarterbacking. Plus, it can actually be quite the stress-reliever, despite the insane to consider fact that you might end up playing 24 rounds of the game by the end! In an effort to cut down on the fluff and stuff, here’s the top 3 reasons I really enjoyed Pandemic Legacy.
