PAX Unplugged Recap!

Hello there Gamers of the Multiverse!

As you can likely imagine, I had an amazing time this past weekend at the PAX Unplugged Convention. It was a very smooth convention, which made for an extra great experience as my first larger convention. People were kind and inviting, events/lines were conducted well, and the vendors were killer (as were their products)!

I played a bunch of new games, met a ton of fun people, spent too much money on games and swag (& coffee haha), and just ultimately had a really great time. It was a fun new adventure, and I would love to return again next year and do it all again. ^_^ There’s not much more I can say about it, but I think a photo collage will certainly do the trick! 😀

Enjoy, and as always – Happy Gaming!

PAX Unplugged!

Hey Gamers!

I just wanted to announce that I will be headed to the PAX Unplugged convention this weekend in Philadelphia, PA and my excitement is overflowing! Besides being stoked to experience a larger convention (having only gone to GrandCon which is much smaller), I’m excited to share a ton of photos of things I played and my take home haul! 😀

BUT! If you love following conventions, can’t make it to this, and don’t want to wait for the post afterwards, please consider following my journey! I will probably be tweeting and snapping a ton so please feel free to follow me on Twitter or Snapchat (ging_biddy)! I’ll be at the convention Friday through Sunday, and in Philly Thursday as well, so I’m hoping to have plenty of gaming adventures to share with you!

In the meantime, Happy Gaming!~

Extra Life!!

Hey game players and fans!
So, if you did not know, this past weekend there were a bunch of events going on for Extra Life – an awesome charity that raises money for sick kids through 24-hour gaming!

My boyfriend and I ended up going to The Portal game store for some gaming and ended up having such an amazing time! We participated in a game auction, played a board game themed “Who wants to be a Millionaire,” met some cool people, played some new games, and even won some raffle items and promo cards/materials! And the best part was, we were also able to donate money to a fantastic cause while getting some cool stuff and having a ton of fun. I’m truly grateful that this hobby has events like this one that allow gamers to give back to the community while doing what they love.

I don’t have much more to say about it, I just wanted to share some links to a great charity, and an awesome game store (at least for you gamers in/near CT), and share some pics of our sweet haul!! Hopefully you all get to experience a gaming event like this one soon!!
Happy gaming~

Board Game Art

So, I know sometimes it can be hard to look at something and appreciate it for something other than it’s intended purpose. Like those crazy, yet awesome, cut-out books people make. But sometimes, and it’s taken me time myself to be able to do it, it’s worth taking a step back to look at and really appreciate the art that can be made out of something that was once something completely different.

And thus, I want to talk to you about the world of board game art! (ooooh, aahhhh). Now, I hear some of you hesitant folks in the back, “Why ruin a perfectly good board game?” and “Why not donate it so someone else can enjoy it?” I see your very valid points, but I have a few of my own as well. (*Please note that these points are part of my personal experiences)

For the English Major at Heart

Once an English major learning about famous writers, now a degree-holding aspiring author with a day job (as you can see, college was worth the crippling debt; stay in school kids), whenever my hobby ties into all that book-learning I did, it makes the forever English lover in me quite happy. Thus, I quite often like to try games based solely on their English-esque themes (really puts a wrench in that whole “don’t judge a book by its cover” thing, huh?). On the bright side, I usually end up liking them a lot.

If you’re like me and wholeheartedly enjoy that little spark of literary love, I’ve got a few games that are definitely worth checking out. So, without further ado, here are five board games for all you English majors at heart (or in real life!), in no particular order.
