Do you think luck is on your side? It’s time to find out! Push your luck as much as you want to score BIG – but watch out for duplicate cards and negative modifiers or you’ll fall behind quickly!
What Is It?
🎯The Goal of the game is to have the most points once someone hits 200 points
⚙️Push Your Luck – Players choose to “hit” or “stay” each turn, going for as many points as they can. If they ever have a duplicate number in their tableau they bust and won’t score that round
⚙️Take That – Modifiers and action cards can be played on opponents to subtract from their score, or force them to discard cards, push their luck more, or freeze for the round
Who Is It For?
👥3 or More Players – I think it’s most fun with a slightly larger group, maybe 5 to 7, because it’s just more exciting going around the table
👥Ages 12 & Up – Very approachable and streamlined gameplay – good for newer gamers and more experienced gamers alike
👥Fans of “gambling”-esque games (it has a sort of blackjack feel to it) and those who like pushing their luck and don’t mind some take-that
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Nice overall look and design
🟢Rules are well-written and very approachable
🟢Great game to introduce to new players
🟢Rounds/turns are snappy
🟢Small/portable – doesn’t need much space

CONS
🔴Can get mean since you can freeze people out of the round and give them negative modifiers
🔴Luck of the draw – you can bust on a 4 while someone doesn’t bust on a 12. Plus, if you aren’t getting any of the actions/modifiers you have less chance to affect others
🔴I don’t like that you can still play cards on players who chose to “stay” because it takes away from the little decision space the game has
🔴If you draw an action card when starting a new round, it may have little to no options to interact with, which can be disappointing
Final Thoughts
I really do love and appreciate how approachable this game is, especially for new players, or those who don’t like a lot of rules. I was able to introduce it to a ton of new people, and they all had a blast! Personally, I think I prefer the original game because this one is a bit too mean, but if you like a little more player interaction, you might lean toward this one instead!
