Will you collect the highest scoring cards with just a few lucky dice rolls? It’s time to find out!
What Is It?
🥅The Goal of the game is to have the most points after 3 rounds
⚙️Dice Rolling / Push Your Luck – Each round, players take turns rolling the die and then taking a card with a matching number from the grid. They are allowed to re-roll once if they do not like their first roll. When someone can’t take a card, the round ends.
⚙️At the end of the round, if you have any cards that match the color of any cards still in the center, you must return them. The player who ended the round must also return their highest value card. Then, players can choose to return one of the cards they still have to take a lucky card, which can give ongoing abilities (i.e. +1 to die rolls) or a one time ability to take a card of a certain value without rolling.
Who Is It For?
👥2 to 4 Players – Fine at any count, no real changes
👥Ages 6 & Up – Very approachable rules
👥Fans of light, quick, lucky games with a small foorprint
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Vibrant colors; love that the different colors also have different shapes around the numbers so it’s colorblind friendly as well
🟢Rules are well written
🟢Curved box makes it easy to open
🟢Quick/snappy turns
🟢Minimal but clever decision space for when to re-roll, and which of the cards to take when there are multiple options
CONS
🔴Rounds can end very quickly, sometimes before everyone has had a turn, just depending on the luck of the die, in addition to what cards are randomly available
🔴Luck in general can play a big role, leading players to feel like they have no control
🔴Not very different play to play
Final Thoughts
I usually prefer a theme in a game, even if it’s slapped on, but even without one, this is fun. It’s quick, light, and can honestly be pretty engaging, which may be surprising at first glance. It’s kind of exciting to watching everyone take their roll(s) and take cards, because you’re usually sitting there, fingers crossed, hoping they take the last card of a color you have, or don’t roll a number that isn’t available so that the round doesn’t end yet. If you like super light, lucky games with no huge stakes, it’s worth a few plays.
