The merc with a mouth is at it again, kicking butt and cracking jokes. And this time he’s put together his very own deck for Unmatched! (No, really, he did it all on his own, he said so himself, he swears!)

Can you take up the mantle of Deadpool and beat up everyone who gets in your way? We’ll see!

What Is It?

A single hero expansion for Unmatched that allows a player to take on the role of Deadpool, fully equipped with his own unique deck and a very fancy miniature of the vigilante.

Who Is It For?

  • Fans of Unmatched; those who are familiar with the system
  • Ages 13+
  • Fans of Deadpool as it’s very thematic

PROS

  • Aesthetics – Cards are all very unique and fun; very thematic and silly
  • Components – Nice quality cards and dial, great mini
  • No Rules – Nothing new or special to learn, you can just dive right in if you’re familiar with the game, just put him right into any core set
  • Healing – It’s super cool (and vastly appropriate)
  • Teleporting – A few cards help Deadpool travel to zones on the board faster which is neat

CONS

  • Speed – Deadpool is only able to move 2 spots per maneuver action without boosting, which can feel incredibly slow, especially if you’re used to characters who move more
  • Melee – Paired with the speed, getting Deadpool next to characters can be difficult, but necessary since he’s a melee character. I did also think it was weird that he was melee. Yes, he is known for his katanas, but he’s also known for his guns, and the miniature is literally holding a bomb, so I expected him to be ranged, or at least have more cards that let him do special ranged attacks

Final Thoughts

I’m a huge fan of Deadpool and I loved how true to the character this expansion was. I think that his deck can definitely be a bit tricky, so personally I’d recommend it to players who are pretty familiar with the game, rather than a first time Unmatched player. His speed was a huge hangup for me personally, but I think with some getting used to players will be able to utilize him effectively. Overall a nice character that is a cool addition to the game system.
