What Is It?

Cooperative – Players take on the roles of Sally Face and his friends and work together to solve mysteries

Campaign / Story Driven – Players work through 4 stories in the game which present new mysteries, items, and challenges

Dice Rolling – Each turn, the active player will roll the ability dice and use their symbols to move, activate certain items, and assign progress to the mysteries on the board. Rolling certain faces may also cause them to suffer their curse

Who Is It For?

  • 1 to 5 Players – I think it can be a bit harder solo, especially in the end game, but overall any count is fine
  • Ages 14 & Up – The game has a dark theme, so it’s not for a younger audience. But gameplay wise, it’s very approachable
  • Fans of cooperative dice rolling games
  • Fans of the Sally Face video game/story/characters

PROS

  • Aesthetics – I love the Sally Face art
  • Components – Overall nice stuff – cars, dice, standees, et cetera
    • Box – Everything fits nicely; simple but effective insert
  • Story is engaging
    • Follows the Sally Face video game well, and it translates well to a board game
  • Gameplay is fun; dice rolling leads to a lot of intense moments seeing if you’ll complete mysteries

CONS

  • Dice luck can make some games swingy
  • There are multiple typos/misprints on cards and in the rules, and the rules are vague in some areas, which led to some questions/confusion on a first play
  • Player board dials are a bit loose

Final Thoughts

There were definitely some hiccups in my first two games because of vague rules, and confusing misprints, but I love the theme, so I tried to overlook them.

The game itself is also fun, as long as you don’t mind the luck of dice. There are items that let you mitigate dice, or use certain faces for extra abilities, which can definitely help you have a little more control in the game too.

If you like Sally Face, it’s worth checking out. It translates to the physical game well, and can be a lot of fun!
