Top 5 Solo Games

Howdy solo gamers! Glad to have you here for this post! If you’ve followed much of what I’ve written about in the part, you probably know I’m not a huge solo gamer. Partly because I live with my forever gaming partner, and since we work a very similar schedule and have very similar tastes, we usually play together, and partly because I’m very lazy and do not like to take the time to set up a game by myself and for only myself.

However, a whole bunch of the games that I own do have solo modes, so over the past few weeks, I’ve been trying some more of them out to see which ones I like best, and these solo modes hit the top of the charts! Plus, I haven’t done a list in quite some time, so I thought this would be a great one!

If you’re like me and haven’t really been able to get super into solo gaming in general, for whatever reasons, I think this list is a good place to start, if you’d like to try, because the games generally don’t have heavy rules, and they have pretty light or easy set up and clean up. The list also features various mechanics, because I’ve found that these are my favorites that do solo for their “thing” (i.e. roll & write, deck builder, etc.) Moreover, I lean toward solo games that have an objective you’re trying to reach (i.e. score X points within X rounds) or compare your score to a scale (to earn you a title) rather than just “record your score and try to do better next time!”

So if you’re interested in trying some games on your own, check these out, because they’re some of my favorites!

It’s Time for Another TOP 100!!

Howdy Ho, Gamers, and a Merry Christmas if you were celebrating yesterday – otherwise, I just hope you had a great day!

You may recall that last year I took a look at my Top 100! Well, I decided to do that yet again this year, for the funz, and wow, was I surprised! I knew a played a lot of games in the last year, many which I loved, and I knew that I grew fonder of the roll-and-write genre as well, which pushed some of those forward a bit, edging some other games out. But I was definitely surprised at just how much my list changed, and how many new things made the list! New games below are noted with a (N) while games that appeared on last year’s list have (#) next to them, with whatever number they came in at last time.

So check out my list, and let me know what’s on your Top 100 (or even Top 50, or just Top 10! I just want to talk about games, okay?) And as always, happy gaming 🙂

Top Ten 2-Player Games!

Howdy Gamers! As you probably know from my many mentions of it, I tend to play games mostly 2-player, just me and my husband. Because of that, I love when I can find a good 2-player only game because not everything that has a range starting at 2 is really great for that few players. So in case, like me, you find that you need more great games for 2, you might want to check these out!

I have again limited them to ones I own, as those are the ones I know the best and like the most. Additionally, I am aware that some of these can technically be played with more than 2, but they were designed with 2 and mind, and definitely play best at only 2 (at least in my opinion). So, without further ado, let’s gooooo!

Top 10 Deck Builders!

Howdy Gamers! It’s time for another Top 10 List! This time I’m taking a look at some of my favorite deck building games. I know that there are a lot of games that fit this category, especially if you’re just looking at the BoardGameGeek category, so, to make sure we’re clear, I define a deck builder as a game where you buy/obtain cards within the game to add to your deck in hopes of bringing cards together to make good combos or get you the most points (whatever the goal of the game might be). If you construct a deck before playing (as in Master of Wills for instance) that isn’t the type of game I have included in the list.

Again, I have narrowed the list down to games that I own to make it a little easier on myself, even though there are a lot of great deck builders out there that I don’t own. If you haven’t had a chance to try a deck builder yet, I highly recommend checking some out. They’re super neat and there’s a lot of varieties out there (which you’ll see in my list) so there’s something for everyone!

Happy Gaming~
