Most Aesthetically Pleasing Games

Hey there, Gamers! I know we all love good games, but what can make a good game enough better? If it’s gorgeous of course! There’s nothing like appealing player pieces, boards, and even rule books to make a good game all the more perfect.

These are a few of the prettiest games in my collection. Feel free to comment and let me know what other beautiful games are out there, so I know what to pick up next!

Can I Be Red? – A Commentary on Player Color

Remember when you were a kid and everything being in your favorite color was such a big deal? Your cup, your plate, your shoelaces…everything needed to be your favorite color, and you’d love it so much more. Well, in my board game enthusiast days of now, I can tell you not much has changed.

Red is by far my favorite color and basically a given that I must be red in every single game, so long as it is a playable color. I started thinking about this the other day, and said to myself how weird it is that player color could have such an impact on a game for me. Without further ado, let me take you on a little walk through the varying layers of why player color matters, … or maybe doesn’t, for some gamers.

Going Further: How Far Can You Get?

Ahh, another board game day is coming up, and I bet you can’t wait! A day to sit down, relax, and not think about going anywhere…until… someone pulls out the newest tile-laying game Going Further! Now you have to plan your moves and see just how far you can get your road to go!

Puppy Love: Appealingly Abstract

Puppy Love – a phrase that can mean a few different things, from a budding romance, to platonic love, to literal love between cute little dogs. When I first read the back of the box description of this one, I will admit, I was a tad skeptical. By a tad, of course, I mean very, because it seemed like a weird concept and also a game I wouldn’t be very fond of (not always huge on the abstract genre). However, a Barnes and Noble sale combined with that ever-pleasant 10% Membership discount convinced us to pick this one up, and actually, despite a few reservations I may still have about it, it’s pretty good!

Updates and ITTD Highlights!

Howdy fellow gamers!

I know I’ve been off the blog for a bit now, and I feel downright awful about it because it means I actually haven’t been playing games as much lately. But for good (I think) reason – they’ve been packed away in preparation for a move to a house! Yes, my games now have a much bigger home than the dinky apartment they once lived in. But, because of that impending (and now pretty much completed) move, I have not been playing as many games as I would have liked, and I haven’t been able to touch the blog at all.
