Let’s build a pond! All the frogs want something different, and hopefully you can help them get it, alongside some water and habitats of course! If you play your cards right – literally – you will have the best pond around! Let’s get to it!
What Is It?
✨Theme – Frogs / Nature
🎯The Goal of the game is to have the most points
⚙️Hand Management – Players take a card from the display each turn and then play one into their pond. Some abilities let them tuck cards from their hand under food cards for end game points, which will limit their choices unless they use cards to draw more
⚙️Multi-Use Cards – All cards can be played face up for the frog or habitat, or face down as water. The different sides have different symbols and abilities, which will influence players’ choices
⚙️Grid Coverage / Pattern Building – Players are making a 3×5 grid. Frogs will score for the size of the groups, as long as their scoring condition is met
Who Is It For?
👥1 to 4 Players – Solo is fine, not the most engaging in my opinion. Multiplayer is good at any count, not much different other than potentially multiple people trying to get the same types of frogs
👥Ages 12 & Up – Gameplay isn’t too difficult, but it can have some strategic moments (i.e. how much to move the jumping frog, when to tuck, etc)
👥Fans of pattern building and lots of options for scoring
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Nice artwork
🟢Components – Good quality cards
🟢Rules are well written
🟢Easy set-up
🟢Lots of options for scoring
🟢Flexibility in card placement (i.e. don’t have to play adjacent)

CONS
🔴Working against a dwindling grid, so you always have less and less options and if you aren’t getting the frogs/symbols you want, you still have to play something
🔴Can feel too lucky since the “market” you draft from each turn is so small
🔴The way the jumping frog loops means it stays on the same food cards twice in a row, which feels odd
🔴Can feel a bit long for what it is, especially at 4 players
Final Thoughts
It’s a cute little game. Is there luck? Definitely. But is there still a bit of strategy in how you build your grid, and when you tuck your cards? Also yes. I wouldn’t say it’s the most unique card game, but it looks nice, it plays smoothly, and it has a bunch of options for scoring, which is nice. I like the variety of frogs, and I like that you can play water cards which can be useful to draw more cards, tuck cards, or even just get you more food symbols. Overall, a decent game worth trying if you tend to like pattern building card games.
