The only way you succeed in this city is by being more notorious than the next guy – make people fear ya a bit, you know? Recruit the best monsters and criminals for lucrative heists and larceny, and try to keep the heat off you from the coppers. See if you can be the best mob boss in the city!
What Is It?

✨Theme – Victorian era / spooky / noir
🎯The Goal of the game is to have the most notoriety (points)
⚙️Deck-building – Players start with identical decks and will recruit new scoundrels to their decks to build up more sway and crime for heist, recruit, and larceny actions; cards can be used for sway or crime each turn, and players will choose between heist turns or recruit/larceny turns
⚙️Take-That – Players may be able to take actions against each other such as stealing coins, giving each other negative cards, and more
Who Is It For?

👥1 to 4 Players – Solo is a race against the automa to 3 heists, not about gaining points. It was okay, but it was a little too quick for me. I prefer multi-player, at 3 or 4 to spread of interaction of some of those take-that actions
👥Ages 12 & Up – Pretty small ruleset, but you need to be strategic with how you use each card!
👥Fans of / Familiar with deck-building
👥Fans of spooky/dark themes, player interaction
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Nice and unique look
🟢Components – Nice cards and coins, plus a playmat for a board!
🟢Rules are well-written
🟢Fun theme / good flavor text
🟢Cards feature images for abilities as well as text to spell it out

CONS
🔴Heist turns can be pretty long because players can essentially end up taking a bunch of turns at once since you redraw, do actions, and then assess heist challenges. So it can add a lot of downtime
🔴Solo is just a race to 3 heists, which I didn’t like as much, because I prefer building a strong deck with good combos, and I didn’t feel I had enough time for that
🔴The take-that can feel bad at times if there’s one player who get no “attack” abilities, or someone who is getting ganged up on
Final Thoughts
I like deck-building, and I like a dark and kind of spooky theme, so I thought this was neat! While the deck-building is familiar – having multiple currencies/ways to use cards, buying more to expand your deck/abilities – but then the heist mechanism was also unique, and it was neat! Like I said, those turns could be long sometimes, but once you get familiar with the game, they speed up a bit. While in the multi-player game, heists aren’t a race (i.e. you don’t necessarily win just because you did 3 heists and someone else only did 2), it still has a little bit of a race vibe, because you don’t want to miss out on those points by delaying your heist turns too much. Overall, I think it works well and is a fun time if you’re a fan of deck-building.
