Cute little krill and all they want to do is collect cards and score points. But it’s not always easy with the big ol’ whale swimming around and eating those cards up! Can you hold on to yours – or are you the whale’s next target?

🥅The Goal of the game is to score the most points
⚙️Open Drafting – Each turn players will take a card from the ocean market and put it in front of them. Some are just for scoring while others also have an action the player can do when drafting it
⚙️Hot Potato – The whale plush will rotate around the table throughout the game as it chooses new “targets”
⚙️Events – After drafting, players will draw one (or sometimes more) whale cards which will cause various things to happen (i.e. the current whale target must discard a card)

👥2 to 5 Players – It works fine at any count, but I think I prefer it with a larger group (4 or 5) because the whale movement is more interesting
👥Ages 8 & Up – Straightforward turns; family weight
👥Fans of light, kind of silly card games with some take that
👥Fans of puns

🟢Really cute package, which also gets utilized during the game, which I think is fun and unique
🟢Turns are snappy
🟢Nice art
🟢Easy set-up
🟢Puns are fun!

🔴Rules were a little vague / bare bones which led to a few questions while playing
🔴I wish the “Mercy Krill” rule I was told about by the designer was in the rulebook (though he did mention it will be in the second edition. With this rule, if Krilling Time comes out of the whale deck, that ends the turn so it is not possible to get hit with 2 Krilling Time cards in the same turn. I think it’s definitely a necessary rule

I thought this game was super cute, and the “gimmick” of the whale moving around and eating up cards was a lot of fun, and works well for the game and the theme. Players actually loved being the target because it meant they could cuddle the whale for a bit, haha!

I think the rulebook could be a bit better – just explain things a bit more – and then it’d be even easier to get players into this one. Either way, worth checking out if you think it’s cute too!
