As a teddy, your job is to protect as many kids and their dreams as you can. As a monster … your goal is to eat those kids. This sounds like it’s going to be a problem. Now the only question is – which side will be victorious?

🎯The Goal is to be the first to win three rounds
⚙️Real-Time – There are no turns. Players are racing to play their cards to the bedrooms as fast as they can to complete the set needed to claim them
⚙️Team Play – You can play in teams of 2 where each player has their own deck
⚙️Take That – Players can play certain cards on each other – like traps and bombs – to force their opponent to discard, or prevent them from playing cards on certain bedrooms

👥2 or 4 Players – You can play 1v1 or 2v2, each player has their own deck. I think both options work well
👥Ages 10 & Up – The gamplay/rules are simple, but you want to play with players who are of similar skill levels when it comes to fast gameplay, or it’ll be too easy for one side to get ahead
👥Fans of real-time games

🟢Aesthetics – Cute art
🟢Components – Nice cards; the keys are a great touch
🟢Real-time means players are very engaged the whole time
🟢Rules are well written
🟢I like that is punishes you for getting the pattern wrong, by giving the claim to the other side, so players don’t just throw cards out and have a subpar round where no one scores

🔴Chaos means if you have rules questions it’s hard to pause as it interrupts gameplay
🔴We had a hard time remembering all the special effects at first and needed to double check. I think a few reference cards would have been beneficial
🔴Some text in the rulebook is extremely light on an also very light background, which made it harder to read

Real-time chaos games often make me feel like I’m going to throw up from stress 🤣 but they can be pretty fun in the moment too. I like the look/theme of this game, even if the theme doesn’t really come through in the gameplay itself, and I think the various card powers work well to keep players engaged with one another while trying to complete the patterns they need. If you aren’t into fast-paced cardplay, this is a skip for you. But if you like a bit of high energy gameplay, in stylish packaging, then check this one out!
