It’s 10:00 PM, but there’s no time for rest. The Senator’s daughter has just been found dead in the women’s prison. With a press conference already scheduled for 11:00 AM tomorrow, you will need to get to work quickly in order to determine what happened and why. There’s no time to waste – let’s get cracking.

*Warning: While I will do my best not to spoil much throughout the review, be advised that there is always some possibility for spoilers*

A murder mystery deduction game where players work together to explore a crime scene in the prison by reading through the various story cards (evidence, interrogations, et cetera). They need to figure out what happened to the Senator’s daughter, why, and who was involved. Players will be presented with questions at the end of the game and being able to answer them sufficiently will determine their level of success.

Who Is It For?

  • 1 or More Players – I like this style of game best with 2 or 3 players because everyone can be pretty involved
  • Ages 18 & Up – Themes/topics are probably not appropriate for younger audiences
  • Fans of mystery style games, crime solving deduction, and cooperating
  • Players who are prepared for a fairly long game and a lot of reading

  • Nice art
  • I like the oversized cards
  • Easy set-up
  • Good game flow — Players have a lot of control, and I enjoy how the state of the game can change depending on what you look at / who you talk to, things like that
  • Clock deck is effective to keep the game progressing without players needing to beg the game for hints
  • A lot of options/paths to try
  • You’re allowed to use your phone for info, but it doesn’t feel forced on you or like there’s too much focus on it

CONS

  • I know the game warns you it will be long, but I still felt like the story could have been a little bit more streamlined in some areas to cut down on length
  • You can’t see all the cards during the game, and it is sometimes hard to tell what might be the best path to take since there is no real direction

I think the overall story and flow are definitely interesting, and I always find it fun to dive into a mystery and try and figure out who, how, and why.

That said, there are a lot of tiny details that need to be pieced together and can be hard to pick up on, depending on how you approach the story. Make sure you’re playing with players who are prepared to hunker down and really get into the story and game. If you do that, you’re golden!
