There’s a rumble at the zoo and you’re right in the middle of it all! Will your elephant friends send the lions packing, or will they get scared off themselves by the little mice? Let’s find out!
What Is It?
🥅The Goal is for players to score the most points
⚙️Card Shedding / Ladder Climbing – Players can score points by getting rid of all the cards in their hand. They can play off the previous card(s) player by playing the same species with 1 more card, or the same number of cards with a higher ranked species
⚙️Team Play – Team Rumble pairs players up and the “junior” or each team can ask the “senior” for help, allowing them both to play cards. Both partners will score points each time either of them runs out of cards
Who Is It For?
👥4 to 7 Players – I think it works best at a medium group, 5-6.
👥Ages 7 & Up – Simple ruleset, and all pictures (no reading/counting)
👥Fans of card shedding/ladder climbing/hand management (in a similar vein to Scout or Jungo)
PROS
🟢Art is cute
🟢Rules are well written
🟢Easy set/clean up
🟢The team play is neat
🟢Small and portable – doesn’t need a large play area
🟢Turns are smooth and snappy
CONS
🔴Luck – Some hands are just better than others, and there’s nothing you can do if you get a bad hand
🔴Replayability – The game doesn’t feel very different play to play, so gets stale after a bit
🔴Some animals have a bunch of others that outrank them, and the art on those cards felt a bit squished/busy
Final Thoughts
The game has cute art, it’s easy and quick to learn, and it plays smoothly. Ultimately, I just didn’t find it terrible interesting. It felt like a pretty standard card shedding game, which is fine if you’re a bigger fan of those than me, but it didn’t do anything super unique by any means. I do think the art is great though, so if you’re looking for a card game with some fun art, you might want to pick this one up.
