Will you choose to capture monsters or open your very own business? Either way, you can do it with The GoVenture Card Game! Quick and easy to learn, this card game can be played casually or with deep strategy. With multiple ways to win, it varies every time, providing you a new adventure with every play. Let’s check it out!
What Is It?
A quick and simple card game for 2 to 6 players which can be played in one of two themes – Monster or Entrepreneur (both in one convenient box). It has unique forms of set collection, various win conditions, and plenty of player choice.
Who Is It For?
I would probably recommend this game to ages 8+ because it isn’t too difficult to understand or play, and since it plays up to 6 it can be good for families too! The game is essentially the same regardless of which theme you play, so if either appeals to you, I’d also recommend it for a good use of theme. It’s likely to be a big hit with card game lovers because it is a little bit heftier than your average card game.
Quality of Components
The game is all cards and they’re a pretty nice quality. The art is very clean and aesthetically appealing overall, though I will say I prefer the Monster art to the Entrepreneur. The box is sturdy enough, but the lid is not a tight fit, and the cards just slide around inside, so you may want to get some baggies to keep them in place.
PRO
- Simple to learn and play
- Great for all ages
- Short rules
- Monster version also comes with rules for a Monster War mini game – cards are versatile for that which is great, 2 games in one!
- Limited hand size challenges you to be strategic
CONS
- It’s not great at only 2-players because trading doesn’t really happen and in a larger player count game that definitely adds to the game
- The rules are a lot of defining what things are and a small section on actual gameplay, so you kind of have to piece it all together yourself.
- Global cards seem a little overpowered – they add some unnecessary luck to a card game that already has a fair amount of luck, since you’re constantly drawing from multiple decks
Difficulty
I’d give this one only a 2/5 for difficulty. Not hard to follow, especially once you get started. Everything flows together well which makes for smooth gameplay.
Final Thoughts
Overall it’s an okay card game; I can definitely see card game lovers and family gamers enjoying it. Since it’s not great at 2-Players, in my opinion, it’s not super high up on my list in general. But, if you have the chance to check it out, it’s worth giving it a try and seeing how you feel!
Happy Gaming~
