Your fortress is under attack! Will the castle walls hold up to the battle? Will your warriors and general be able to handle the blasts? Or will your opponent destroy everything and leave you to pick up the pieces? Only time will tell. Let’s get to the fight!
What Is It?
Dexterity / Flicking – The goal of the game is to knock over all your opponent’s warriors and their general. In the process, most of the castle walls will also be knocked down. To do this, players will be launching ammo disks from their crossbow and their catapult to hit their opponent’s pieces
Variable Player “Powers” – Each player has a deck of unique tactic cards and they will play one every turn. These can give them more figures, bonus actions, or other special effects
Who Is It For?
- 2 Players – Strictly a head to head game
- Ages 8 & Up / Light-weight game fans – Younger players may need help with set-up, and possibly some of the cards, but otherwise it’s a very all-ages game
- Fans of very tactile games – great toy factor
PROS
- Aesthetics – Great table presence; nice art on the cards
- Components – Nice chunky castle pieces, good quality minis and weapons, good cards
- Replay Value – Can vary your builds, and there’s a good variety of cards
- Rules are short and sweet but clear and well written
- The catapult works really well
CONS
- I thought the crossbow was pretty weak, and kind of hard to use
- I don’t care for the “instant win” option of the treasure cards (if ammo lands on it you win). It doesn’t seem necessary or all that interesting
- Needs a large play area, and it can be annoying to chase the ammo around the room if they are getting flung around (which is common because the weapons aren’t super precise)
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking for a slightly chaotic, very tactile toy-like game, this is a great choice!
It has a super nostalgic vibe to it, and just comes down to being a super fun time. Even if you get absolutely crushed because you’re not as good at flinging the ammo (like me!) it’s just fun to try and knock down all your opponent’s stuff.
