My thoughts on a game, good and bad.

Splendor: Simple, Yet Satisfying

As you’ve probably learned from some of my other posts (feel free to reread if you haven’t figured it out), I’m no stranger to hardcore, heavy board games. However, that’s not to say that I’m a hater of simpler classics and other easy finds. In fact, one of my all time favorite games is Splendor, and I have to admit that it’s pretty simple. Despite that, it’s actually a lot of fun and makes for a good beginning game, filler game, or family game. Here’s the lowdown.

Five Minutes or Forever: The Game of Fluxx

That title’s no joke.  Fluxx is a simple, cute game that comes in dozens of different themes to appeal to everyone, BUT it can literally last a quick 5 minutes, or has the potential to go on for a few hours.  Oh, that still sounds interesting to you? Well then… let’s continue!!

5 Reasons Dice Masters is MY Game of the Year

Alright friends and fans, things are about to get super stoked in here, because I’m about to tell you about my current favorite board game, Dice Masters. Trust me, you’ll want to play this one for sure. It’s a game full of heroes, villains, fantasy characters, combat, magic, and, most importantly, tons of dice rolling!! (If you couldn’t tell, I really like to roll dice.) Let’s get to it. Here are 5 reasons why I love Dice Masters, and you should too.

Mysterium: The Deduction Game of a Lifetime

Let’s start with the contradiction that is this game: Mysterium is a cooperative, one-VS-many board game. If you don’t know what that means I’ll try to put it simply – In most one-VS-many games, one player plays against the rest who play on a team (they very often use the “heroes VS the dungeon lord bad guy” kind of story). And in cooperative games…you work together, hopefully you knew that one. So in this game, the one player isn’t trying to defeat the many, but is helping them succeed.

Advance to Boardwalk … No Skills Required

If you like Monopoly but would prefer it without all the thinking, friendship ruining, and endless play, then Advance to Boardwalk might be the game for you. There isn’t a lot to it, hence why you don’t need to be the sharpest crayon in the box to play, but you still get that rousing experience of buying some property that Monopoly gives you.
