It’s 1927, and an eerie fog looms over Innsmouth, where Private Investigator John Miller returns once again. Can you help guide him through his exploration and investigation? Or will you fall victim to the encounters that lie ahead?
What Is It?
✨Theme – Cthulhu/Lovecraftian
🎯Goal – Explore and investigate Innsmouth, interacting with encounters each day leading up to the climactic encounters each Sunday
⚙️Calendar – Encounters available for each day
⚙️Dice Rolling – You get up to 3 rolls per day which will determine what encounter you can do
Who Is It For?
👥1 Player – Solo experience
👥Ages 12 & Up – Definitely light mechanically, but this theme might not be for a younger audience
👥Fans of a little daily game, dice rolling, and a Cthulhu theme
PROS
🟢Aesthetics – Nice art, good size
🟢Components – Fun custom dice, the magnet day tracker is very fancy, and the calendar itself it nice quality
🟢Symbols each day are clear
🟢Rules are clear and well-written
🟢Fun story in between each month, as well as introduction to new mechanisms as you play

CONS
Disclosure: I have not played through the entire calendar.
🔴At first glance of the first 2 months, it does not seem like you have many interesting decisions to make throughout the game, you just roll the dice and hope you can do an encounter
🔴The magnet is cool, but does cover up a large chunk of the daily square, so you have to position it just right in order to see the encounter
Final Thoughts
So like I said above, I haven’t played through the whole calendar because I wanted to be able to play it throughout the 2027 calendar year, as intended. I did try out a few weeks from the January calendar, and had a peek ahead to the next month to see what would change (don’t worry, I’ll forget by the time I get to it later, haha). I really like the idea of this, and it seems very simple, but fun if you just want an excuse to roll dice every day with some small purpose. It won’t be for everyone, as I can see some people viewing it as a daily “chore,” but I’m excited to do the encounters, see what else changes throughout the year/story, and see how well my sanity holds up!
