If you loved a good game of cops and robbers as a kid, now’s your chance to play it with dice! Roll as fast as you can to collect more valuable loot than your opponents and win big! Don’t get greedy, or you might wind up arrested with your getaway car impounded. Ready to see if you have what it takes to rob, run, and arrest? Let’s check it out!
What Is It?
A real-time, fast-paced dice rolling game where players/teams take turns as the cops and robbers. On the robber side, players are trying to steal diamonds and then gather other valuable loot, while keeping the coppers at bay. The cops are trying to get to the criminals as fast as possible and arrest them, while also taking back some of the stolen goods along the way. Once the loot tiles are all gone, or after a certain number of rounds, the game ends and the richest team wins!
Who Is It For?
- 2 or 4 players
- Ages 10+
- Players who can think / act quickly and don’t mind the real-time pressure
- Fans of no downtime
- Fans of light, lucky game play and dice chucking
PROS
- Simple gameplay – clear goals
- Nice reference inside of the box; very convenient for 2 or 4 players
- Plays quickly
- Components – Nice quality cardboard tokens
CONS
- Security measure tiles in the bank seem a little out of place, and slow you down for no reason
- 3 Player game doesn’t work very well in my opinion; a player can get all their cars impounded if they’re very unlucky, and things just aren’t as smooth
- While the reference in the box is nice, having multiple languages all together can be very distracting
- Components – dice are just okay; screen-printed and pictures can rub off the more you handle them
Final Thoughts
While I like that everyone takes on both roles during each round, it also created a bit of a bit of a disconnect from the theme for me, because you had to keep adjusting your play style to your current role, rather than focusing on one side.
At 2 players, the game was okay, but not wildly interesting, and at 3, as I said above, it felt mediocre at best, and we almost saw someone get all 3 of the cars impounded very quickly all due to the luck of the rolls. At 4 players though, that team play really helped the game shine. The added layer of needing to communicate with your partner quickly made for some frantic, wacky fun, and it was a best of my experiences playing, by far.
If you enjoy fast-paced dice rolling games, this might be for you, and I definitely recommend playing in 2 teams of 2 for the fullest experience.
