The Emperor Penguin’s nephew loves shiny jewels, just like his uncle. But he doesn’t stop there! He loves all the treasures he can find, and the more, the better, no matter what they are! Can you help him get the most items by visiting all the penguin trading shops in towns? Let’s get to work!

Trading + Hand Management – Players must play a card each turn to the shared piles, and use it for its value or its special ability. They start with limited options, but expand as they get more cards. Since the goal is to have the most cards in hand, they want to make sure they’re always getting back more than they spent.

  • 2 to 5 Players – It works fine at any count, but I think it’s the weakest at only 2, and really shines at 4 or 5 because the market fluctuates a lot, which keeps it interesting
  • Ages 8 & Up / Light or Family-Weight Gamers – Light rules, some reading and counting while playing cards; great for a wide audience
  • Fans of light, quick card games with easy scoring

  • Aesthetics – Simple but nice art, and clean graphic design
  • Small and portable
  • Rules – Well-written plus a quick teach
  • Components – Nice quality cards and cute little fish
  • Smooth, quick turns
  • Theme – Doesn’t come through the cards or gameplay for me
  • Can end kind of abruptly some games
  • When fish run our, you can’t get more, so players can hoard

I think it’s a cute, light little game. It’s a nice filler, or nice to play with people newer to games or who just prefer lighter things.

I like the varied options you have for most cards you play, though the lower numbered cards are pretty exclusively used for their abilities. I don’t love, though, how limited fish are. I also wish scoring was a bit more exciting at the end. I appreciate it for being very approachable, and a good choice for a decent range of players.
